Join Us Saturday, October 5, 2019 for our 6th Annual “Stuff the Truck” Charity Drive

Stuff the Truck has traditionally been held in November on the day before Thanksgiving, but since food pantries are in need year-round, we’re switching things up a bit. This year’s event will be in conjunction with our fall Client ReWARDs Day on Saturday, October 5th to benefit Carriage Town Ministries Shelter and Food Pantry in Flint, MI. It will be held 10am-2pm at all 4 of our design centers where attendees will have chances to win some awesome prizes.

We will be collecting non-perishable food items, toiletries, bedding and winter wear from members of the community. Next time you are out shopping for groceries, grab a few extra items and help us fill our truck for those in need. Monetary donations will be accepted, as well.

Every 5 items donated will get you a raffle ticket to enter to win a prize of your choice! Prizes include:
  • Amazon.com: $500 Gift Card
  • MSU: 2 tickets to November 30th game
  • Red Wings: 4 tickets to October 22nd game
  • Restaurant Bundle: $50 Gift Card to each
  • Detroit Lions: 4 tickets to October 20th, OR 2 tickets to December 15th game
  • Halloweekends: 6 Cedar Point tickets
  • Cabela’s: $100 Gift Card
  • Blake’s Orchard: $50 Gift Card
  • AMEX: $50 Gift Card
Our total weights of past donations given:
  • 2018, we collected 3,027 pounds
  • 2017, we collected 2,899 pounds
  • 2016, we collected 2,653 pounds
  • 2015, we collected 1,482 pounds
  • 2014, we collected 415 pounds

Please take a few minutes out of your schedule to help us surpass these donation amounts this year!

The event will offer refreshments, home improvement discounts, SWAG and a chance to register for C&L Ward’s 10K Home Makeover.

Non-perishables most needed are: pasta, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, canned meat, rice, beans, cereal, boxed potatoes and stuffing and canned fruit.

Other common items they are most in need of include bar soap, dish soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant and laundry soap; also gladly accepting of travel-sized and hotel toiletries. There is a need for gently used bedding, basic clothing and winter items: twin/XL twin sheets, pillows, socks, underpants, hats, coats of all sizes, gloves, mittens, snow pants, boots, blankets, etc.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Breast Cancer Awareness

Each year in October, our team participates in the Real Men Wear Pink campaign, led by the American Cancer Society. Employees who participate in this program wear pink and obtain pledges throughout October to raise money for this cause. Additionally, we raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Our fundraising events toward this cause include themed T-shirt sales, in-office bake sales, a Penny Wars competition, 50/50 raffles, and pizza lunches.

Stuff the Truck

Our Stuff the Truck event is another way we give back to the community. The goal of this program is to fill one or more C&L Ward trucks with donation items. These may include canned goods and other non-perishable food, toiletries, warm clothing, blankets, and more. Monetary donations are also accepted, as we collect donations from our employees and other members of the community. Everything collected in the Stuff the Truck event is provided to a local non-profit dedicated to helping community members in need.

Shingles for Shelter

Shingles for Shelter is a C&L Ward program that gives back to the community. Each holiday season around November, we offer a free installed asphalt roof to a homeowner in need. We partner with organizations like ABC Supply Co, Inc. and Metro Sanitation to source the shingles and supply the dumpster to make this project happen. To select a Shingles for Shelter giveaway recipient, we consider things like current roof condition, circumstances, and presentation quality. In short, we offer homeowners a fresh start.

Owens Corning Roof Deployment

Owens Corning and Platinum Preferred Contractors want to give something back to the troops that bravely serve our country, and the families who support them. The Roof Deployment Project is our way of building for the future together.
